Location: On the Chemin du Lilet, between the D923E, Rue du Pic Mallet, and the D650. Barneville-Carteret (formerly known as Barneville-sur-Mer) is on the west coast of the Cotentin peninsular, about 10 miles (16 kilometres) to the west of Saint-Sauveur-le-Vicomte.

18 year old Royal Air Force Sergeant Clive Richard Leonard Thornton, from a Handley Page Halifax Mk V, of 1663 Heavy Conversion Unit (flying out of RAF Rufforth on a training mission) in 1943.
5 of the crew are buried in Bayeux War Cemetery (Sergeants' A. J. Dunn, H. Hinett, W. J. Pelham, D. W. Suffling and E. F. Williamson), 1 of the crew (Sergeant J. Hunter) in Siouville-Hague Churchyard and 1 of the crew (Sergeant D. C. Butlin) is buried in Saint-Hélier War Cemetery on the Channel Island of Jersey.
