Additional Information

Commonwealth War Graves Commission records1 state that Private DENNIS DELAHUNT was attached to 3 Battalion, Parachute Regiment. However 3 Battalion, Parachute Battalion did not serve in Normandy. Therefore, the following are possibilities:

  • He was with 3 Battalion Parachute Regiment, but was attached to a unit in the 6th Airborne Division.

  • That 'Battalion' (or Bn. as it is documented in Commonwealth War Graves Commission records) is a typographical error and should in fact read 3 Brigade (or 3 Bde. using Commonwealth War Graves Commision abbreviations).

Special Forces Roll of Honour website records2 state that Private DENNIS DELAHUNT was attached to 3 Parachute Brigade, Headquarters, but do not provide any sources for where this information has been obtained.

Until documentary evidence is located, the Fallen Heroes of Normandy have recorded the unit for Private DENNIS DELAHUNT as 6 Airborne Division (specific unit unknown).
