Additional Information

LESLIE JAMES GRAMLICK was born in Homerton, London, United Kingdom on the 13th July 1925.

As part of 30 Corps 'race to the Seine' private LESLIE JAMES GRAMLICK was a member of No. 8 Platoon, A Company, 5 Battalion Wiltshire Regiment. This unit spearheaded the first assault crossing the River Seine at Vernon on 25th August 1944.

The platoon was divided into two storm boats which came under heavy enemy fire midstream and my brother, in common with all the others, lost his life. Their bravery and sacrifice was manifest in the officer and Sergeant leading the platoon each being awarded the Military Cross and Military Medal respectively.1
