JOHN LEDGARD was born in Bradford, Yorkshire, England, United Kingdom in June 1925. His older brother Private Frederick Arthur William 'Fred' Ledgard was born in 1923, and served with 4 Battalion, Somerset Light Infantry in north-west Europe. He was killed on the 2nd February 1945, and is now buried in Reichswald Forest War Cemetery, Kleve, Nordrhein-Westfalen, in Germany.1
