This is a correction. My great Uncle Eldon was actually 19 when he died at Normandy but he had already been in the army since 1941. It was then that he ran away from home to join the army at the age of 16 years. His Dad, my Grandfather Alfred, went and brought him home but he ran away again and joined the army. This time his Dad just let him go which was something he regretted for the rest of his life. I am going to send you an image of his obituary which was published in the Niagara Falls Review on July 31, 1944. Uncle Eldon's death announcement gives further information regarding his life and where he was born.

Eldon Roy Murray was my great Uncle (my Mother's older brother) . When he died at Juno Beach he was only 16 years old. He had lied about his age to get into the army. His dad, my grandfather Alfred, went and brought him home but he ran away and joined the army again. His dad just let it go the second time, a decision he regretted for the rest of his life. As soon as I can I will get further info and pictures of my Uncle Eldon to send to you so you can add them to this page. Thank you so much for doing this!!!
